Ballater Railway Station
The final full day of our break in Ballater. The weather very cold and sunny.
The Entry photo shows the entrance canopy of the restored railway station buildings which have been converted into a restaurant, museum and gallery to name but a few uses. The colours used to paint the building are not related to those of the Caledonian Railway.
The Deeside Line terminated at Ballater, although plans to extend all the way to Braemar existed. These were vetoed by QV. Apparently the thought of trains passing in site of Balmoral Castle gave her a touch of the vapours.
The hill in the background is Craigendarroch. A relatively easy climb in reasonable weather.
