You can’t keep a true blue down

We spent the afternoon yesterday decorating mum’s Christmas tree as a family, the first time we’ve all managed to be at the family home at the same time for many years.

Now many years ago, my dad, who was a long-standing Everton supporter, was asked what he thought of his kids’ attempts to decorate the tree. “Too red”, he replied with his cheeky smile.

So every year this maverick blue gonk is put somewhere on the tree. It still makes me laugh.
