Blackening Russula
Horribly wet and grey day. I came across a large number of rather soggy Blackening Russula (otherwise known as Blackening Brittlegill). These are never the most photogenic of fungi but I liked seeing this pair, one inverted with the gills exposed, and the spectrum of brown colours - burnt sienna, brown umber, tan etc. There may be fifty shades of grey but apparently there are 128 shades of brown.
