Dancing Christmas Tree
Honoring tradition, I offer the annual shot of Will's Dancing Christmas Tree. He made it when he was in pre school and it has been posted on our fridge every Christmas since. It still makes me smile. It's a bit the worse for wear but not bad considering...
John got the lights on our Christmas tree while I cycled through London on the Peloton this morning. I have almost finished decorating the tree although the white sheets that I usually use to cover the stand and the newspaper and plastic under it have been used to cover the lemon tree during frost alerts and are no longer fit for purpose. Finding something else will be a task for tomorrow...
On another note, I would be remiss if I passed a December seventh without mentioning the Japanese kamikaze air attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1942. If there are any survivors left, they would be over 100 by now, but we shouldn't forget that it was the action which brought a reluctant country into World War II. My father would be 100 this year and my mother would be 103. They were both there on 'the day that shall live in infamy', though neither is here now to answer all my questions. Our involvement in that war could have dragged on for years were it not for the shocking decision to drop atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, a decision which is still debated today.
We are meeting Kathy and Mike at Rosso, an old haunt that we haven't been to since Covid reared it's ugly head. We're both looking forward to an evening out.
