Angel Tree
This is the Christmas tree at the bottom of our staircase. We have another, smaller, tree in the hall which is visible to passers by from the road through a floor-to-ceiling window, and that one is decorated with colourful toys. This tree, though, is much less colourful, being primarily decorated with angels of various shapes and sizes, but it’s my favourite and I love it.
This afternoon I’ve been busy cooking for our early family Christmas get-together tomorrow. I’ve made two dishes of leeks au gratin (a family favourite) and also a raspberry and cinnamon torte (another family favourite).
Before I did that, though, I had to take Smithers to the dentist this morning for an emergency appointment so he could have a broken front tooth examined. We think it’s a casualty of having general anaesthetics for his two recent operations, because a long-standing bridge seems to have become dislodged by the insertion of the anaesthetic tube.
Another appointment to do the preparation for a crown was needed, but there were none available before Christmas. Fortunately, the receptionist managed to move some appointments to create space for Smithers, and he will go back on 20th December to receive a temporary crown while the permanent one is being made for him.
