… with plant shadows cast by the late afternoon sun. It followed our round-the-block together, which we took along the cemetery and Union Street. It was a very pleasant early winter day.

The main event was a trip to the optician just beyond the end of our street. A screw had fallen out of Marylee’s glasses, but it was quickly replaced—a minor crisis easily solved.
