Annual

Another wet, grey, dark day…not very inspired to be out in it so we headed down to St Boswell’s in the car to meet up with A in the cafe and browse the bookshop and deli etc. Chatted about Yule logs, muscle wasting, essays, Christmas visitors and plans for the next couple of weeks, then she went back home and we went back to the craft market that wasn’t open when we’d visited earlier. By then it was really wet….so depressing! There were some nice things on sale and we enjoyed looking round then had some tasty soup for a late lunch then picked up some food at the supermarket and came home to write Christmas cards and watch Mrs Harris goes to Paris.
Had a slow drive through a lot of traffic to hazelh’s for their Christmas party which we could only put in a brief appearance at, but nice to see her and mrhazelh, Arclight and some other familiar faces and chat to a couple of them before battling through the traffic again to get to the Traverse to see Mark Thomas in England & Son. We weren’t fully sure what it would be…it turned out to be a very powerful one man play about the addiction journey written at workshops with recovering addicts facilitated by Mark and a playwright who’d been imprisoned for drug dealing. In the small theatre it was explosive to be so close to him as he pounded and raged around, sometimes hurt or angry and other times full of joy. Very powerful.
Late home and watched Strictly on fast forward to see the semi final.
We made the most of a wet day!
