Nine Lessons and Carols
A rainy walk with Xena this morning, and then after lunch we went to the 4pm carol service at the school - well, nine lessons and carols to be precise. Tommy and Inca joined us as one of their closest friends is a teaching assistant at the school, (and absolutely loving it) having gone straight there from graduating in the summer. (He has decided to qualify as a teacher now).
We also met up with close friends and their family who attended the service and we all sat together. Oh I love a good carol service - a childhood of singing carols which extended well into my school years in the school choir, it is a joyous time and the true start of Christmas for me. I always get goose bumps at the descant in Oh Come All Ye Faithful! The school choir were superb, and sang a beautiful extract from Handel's Messiah, and they had some very strong vocalists in other pieces. Tommy, standing next to me, was belting out the carols in his bass voice, he also loved it, it was very nostalgic for him having sung in the choir for all his years at the school.
Unfortunately we had horrible traffic coming home due to two accidents and another sticky patch on a road near home. I hope those accidents were not serious.
And only 15 more sleeps until Christmas!
