Christmas ships on the Multnomah Channel
Nice night for it, the latest deluge was over. From the first of December until the 17th these ships parade in the Portland/Vancouver area, on the Columbia and Willamette Rivers. For two nights they combine and come down river to St. Helens and then the channel outside of Scappoose. It's a fun tradition: thankful for all the dedicated boaters.
Earlier John and I got a Christmas tree from a nearby farm. It's a Turkish Fir, apparently easier to grow in warm climates. It requires less water.
Mr. N, who runs the farm, is the most fascinating and kind man. He heard about my deer ravaged Redbud tree, and promptly promised me one of his. I'll need to get it in the early spring. Warmed my heart. I'll add an extra of him and John..
