Portobello Beach Edinburgh Day 293

The sun really took its time to come out in Joppa today. Luckily, at 1600, when it began to break through the clouds, it still had six hours until sunset. My blip was taken at 2135, looking east along Portobello beach and features one of the iconic groyne posts. A party of Northern Irish primary school children were playing on the sand. They are in Edinburgh for a week's residential visit. Their teachers were doing an excellent job giving up their time for these youngsters. When I joked that they had come to Edinburgh to escape the G8 they laughed and told me that on their way here they had seen half of Scotland's Police crossing to Northern Ireland to assist in the protection of the G8 leaders from the demonstrators.
