COP28
(11/12/23)
I was in no hurry to wake up today! My weekend alarm is set to 8 AM, though, so I didn't waste too much of the morning.
G had applied for tickets to visit COP28. They came through yesterday, so we got ourselves ready and headed out there. The first thing we needed was some lunch, which we had in the Uzbekistan Pavillion.
We then walked over to the Women's Pavillion, where a few plenary sessions were taking place. It was incredible to see our friend, Farzan, as soon as we walked into the room. She has been working with the company to research and source experts to speak at COP.
We listened to three panellists talk about the impact of climate change on rural women, in particular. We moved on to the Al Wasl Dome before going to the UAE pavilion. My blip is of one of the visual displays there - an aid, if you like, of what life was like before the discovery of oil. I couldn't get over this old man's beard!
We were home by 6 PM, giving us plenty of time to chill out. What a relief! It's been a good day, if a little hot and tiring.
