For the family

A manic day

I think that I’m going to pay for this!!!

A train journey to Lincoln for a cardiology appointment, so an early start. Nottingham was the train change point which was good with a coffee shop and indoor waiting area, as I had about 30 minutes to wait. I was surprised at the state of the land all the way across the country from Uttoxeter to Lincoln. I knew that it has rained heavily recently, but the amount of flooding seen was far worse than I have ever seen.

Taking pictures on the move was a challenge made more difficult by the idiot who had written and drawn patterns with a sharp object over the window. The actual journey went quickly because there was so much of interest to see.

In Lincoln I was met by one of my former sewing friends. She’s also a retired nurse and has worked at the hospital in recent years, so got me to my appointment on time. The purpose of this trek was to get the results of my recent CT scan, let the consultant know that I have moved and sort out my transfer to the care of Derby Cardiology. I’ve been referred to them but I’m Mrs Nobody on a long list, what is classed as ‘not a priority’, words that make me shudder when I think of my post op period.

Well the effort was worth it. Mr O’B is referring my to a female cardiologist at Derby that he knows, providing a comprehensive history and the action plan. I have him to thank for my present existence.

C and I then went into town for a visit to M&S and refreshments at Stokes Tea & Coffee shop. Lincolnshire plum bead and Lincolnshire Poacher cheese were a must, now that they are not easily accessible. Very filling, so half of the serving was eaten and the remainder wrapped up as emergency rations for the return train journey.

The train was at 3.30. A lot had been achieved in the 4 hour visit including a comprehensive catch up on all the news from my sewing friends. This train only went as far as Newark Castle before I had to change and wait for 40 mins in glass shelter on the platform. No refreshments or toilets, or staff. Very few passengers. I did feel vulnerable, for the first time in my recent travels.

I was pleased to get home just before 7pm. The journey in the dark wasn’t interesting like the morning trip, I was cold and I was sooo tired by this stage. Well the next Cardiology appointment will be in Derby, much closer to home.

I’ve added some extras that have are significant to me
