Funeral Escort

Today there was yet another veterans funeral to attend.
Bit of a rush with getting Buddy and Hendrix to school, particularly when I said "We have to leave as soon as Octonauts is finished" and it turned out to an epic 'Octonauts the Movie', well not quite but it was rather more extended than normal.
So we had to leave before the end. The traffic was horrendous, then someone decided to turn around in the road, blocking everyone for a while!
Anyway, I made it to the crematorium in time.
Roy Brown was a Royal Marine veteran of WW2, awarded the Burma  Star for his part in that campaign. He would have been 100 years old in February.  It appears that his family received some inheritance and refused to fund a funeral, hence the NHS provided ceremony.
The funeral was planned to be an NHS, 10 minute, funeral and I was asked if any Riders Branch could make it. Myself and two others were going to attend.
Meanwhile, the RBL Gloucestershire Chairman got to work and it finished up being a half hour ceremony, standard bearers, a bugler for the Last Post and a motorcycle escort for the hearse so that we could stop the traffic at roundabouts and junctions to allow Roy a smooth last journey.
There were people there from the Royal Marines, serving and association, Gurkha regiment, ARRC (Allied Rapid Reaction Corps based in Gloucester, RBL and other veterans of all services.
A fitting tribute to an old soldier who probably witnessed some horrifying scenes during his wartime service in Burma.
P.S. excuse the weird photo, my camera was helmet mounted and a bit askew. I had to screenshot this from the video and straighten it.
