‘On the Metro….’

The annual Christmas and New Year card from my brother in Barcelona arrived in the post today. He’s an artist who, amongst other things, has created a range of posters of various sights there over the past 30 years or so that are widely available in kiosks throughout the city, and we always look forward to it arriving.

Like many of us, he is increasingly pessimistic about the state of the world. One of the things he’s concerned about is how, as society is increasingly atomised, many of us are increasingly isolated from each other. He sees people's inseparability from their phones as a symptom of this. 

So this year, the tone of his card was perhaps a bit more sombre than usual, though I found I rather liked it.
