Slightly Seasonal
John picked tangerines and persimmons, brought them in and dumped them on the counter. I, in turn, dumped them in the nearest receptacle because I was busy making truffles and needed the space. In the end I left them there because I kind of like them. Festive without being red and green....
I finished binding one big quilt, one to go. I went to Pilates where I talked to a woman who is having a knee replacement next week. I thought she would already have had it but she said she had a cold and they
rescheduled it. She was wearing a mask. Another woman asked if she could sit in my car because she is having a hip replacement and doesn't think she will be able to get in and out of her current car. We're going to be quite a bionic group, but I love the fact that there is a class for us and that everybody works hard. It is a special community.
I went into the hardware store store that has a Christmas boutique upstairs looking for a tree skirt, but the only one they had was black and white check. It might have looked good with the tangerines and persimmons, but didn't seem very seasonal. I'm trying to keep it simple this year and decided I could find something around here. They were inexplicably digging a large hole in the middle of Highway 12 and had everything narrowed down to one lane with a confusing set of cones delineating the entrance to the hardware store. It was hard to get in there and even harder to get out. The road construction here seems almost perpetual.
I'm ready to make my truffle mix into little chocolate balls having liberally spread chocolate over much of the kitchen as well as my person. I didn't ride the Peloton today because Jim gave me the heads up that Will came home last night and the bike is in his bedroom. I didn't need much of an excuse to forego it after Pilates, but I did notice in class that the bike is having the desired effect on my quads.
Moises, our window washer came yesterday and we chatted about his knee replacement (same doctor). and he offered to loan me his exercise bike which he bought specifically for his rehab but rarely rides now that he is completely recovered. He even said he'd bring it over in his truck. There are still a lot of nice and generous people in the world and Moises is a gem.
Cindy dropped by and we got caught up while we watched Hazel trying to get Spike to play. She's persistent and by the time they leave she has managed to get him out from behind the table, but doesn't understand that he can't see. She takes breaks to disappear into the back of the house and come back with things like the end of a roll of toilet paper (the other end still attached to the holder and unrolling through the house) or John's underwear....
Never a dull moment....
