The Spanish Steps

in Rome serve as inspiration for the stairs that lead to the main entrance at the Getty Center. One of the great characteristics of Meier’s architecture is the openness, or vastness of the open spaces. Remarkable too is the dialogue he created between the buildings and the surrounding topography by echoing the natural shapes and textures. Light also becomes the playful element he paints with.
Here, I liked how the people go up and down, indicating action.
