Religion Is A Funny Thing
I found this flyer on the sidewalk. The front reads "What you miss by being a Christian." Then you open it up and read this.
Of particular hilarity to me was point number nine. Would that mean that everyone who prays daily is in hell?
I feel sorry the people who hand these out. Even sorrier for those who read it, and convert because of it. I can't see the possible effectiveness of this flyer on anyone but the lamest of minds.
My apologies to anyone of strong faith who may be offended by my opinions of this flyer.
Finding and posting this makes me curious to know the religious leaning of my fellow blippers. Anyone who cares to share please do. I'll start:
I consider myself very spiritual but not religious. I believe that most modern religions, while beginning from a pure source, have become completely distorted and now do more harm than good in many cases.
I believe that all religious conflicts are ridiculous. Trying to convert someone else into believing what you believe is usually wrong. Especially when what you believe might be wrong, at least for them.
I relate more to eastern religions and philosophies--Buddhism, Hinduism, Toaism. I practice Transcendental Meditation, and went to a university where all of the other students did too. I live in a home built according to Sthapatya Veda, the ancient Vedic system of architecture. These things aren't a religion, and do not require any set of beliefs, but this way of life fills the spiritual void for me that most people would seek religion for.
I guess I'm probably on the edge as far as the blipfoto demographic goes. I'd be interested to know more about the rest of you.
