St Leonards

Our third trip to the city in a week with another one on Sunday (hopefully the last for a while). Rather than the usual shot of Chatswood from the balcony, I’ve shifted 45 degrees to the left to show St Leonards.
There’s a photobomber in the top corner. I know it’s a crescent moon but I’m hoping somebody with superior knowledge of astronomy (that’s probably most blippers) can tell me if it’s waxing or waning, assuming it’s possible to tell.
