Over Yonder

Breathe Again

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,

I had SO much of a better day today.

For a start, it didn't feel like the Hayfever Goblin was punching me square in the nose over and over. So there was that.

In other news, there was very good news on the money front. I called the IRD about my tax refund. It turned out that something had been mis-filed (not by me) but now it has been resolved and my tax refund should come through early next week - just in time for Xmas.

And Caro's money from Shetland Dad also arrived. This will be enough to take her and Feefs back to Scotland next year. I know this means a lot to them, so I'm happy about that.

Most importantly I realised how much stress I've been carrying, worrying about money for the past 3 months. Today it felt like a huge weight has been lifted.

This is us out from the hole we'd got into with all the travel a few months ago. We're both determined never to go back into it again. My spreadsheet will continue to be a thing and I'm determined to keep on top of our finances from now on so that I can get sick, or not have a job or god help us even take a holiday without worrying about the price of cat food.

I'm really grateful to Caro for being amazing these last few difficult months. In fact, this whole difficult year.

But most importantly, it's nice to be able to breathe again.

S.
