Aussie et al flora wreath
I'd like to claim that this unusual Christmas wreath is made from Australian native flora and it is in part. Just those spectacular large blooms, king protea, are from Africa. Still, we were all Gondwanaland once and I'm pleased to say that proteas are quite naturalised here. No doubt about the gum nuts and leaves - they are fair dinkum Aussie.
Speaking of which, today Trisharooni and I attended the State Memorial of Australian genius Barry Humphries at the Sydney Opera House. He was a man for all seasons - actor, comedian, author, poet, artist, collector of rare books, expert on the music of the Weimar Republic and family man. I've probably left out a couple of talents but you get the picture.
There were a number of guests who turned up in the Dame Edna Everage style, but no matter how they tried, there is no style icon like Dame Edna. Keep an eye out for Trisharooni's photos of this event because she got some beauts.
For Flower Friday I was hoping to do some gladioli, made famous by Dame Edna's irreverent treatment of this hitherto respectable flower, but they're not in season. I still love them.
Thanks for hosting BikerBear. Happy weekend all. Still some time to shop.
