There will be a buffer between me and the mud!

At their request I had a fantastic 'playdate' with the children next door this afternoon. We made a Brio railway layout, they played the piano and once they'd packed the Brio away we made a marble run. Then, as if on cue, there were blue flashing lights outside so we went to to the end of the road, collecting their mum on the way, to stand well out of the way and watch the fire engine (no visible disaster). One fire-fighter kindly answered the four-year-old's questions about the ladder.

I fear the next playdate might be a little bit of an anticlimax.
