K and I finally finished the jigsaw at 02:00, discovering that there were 14 pieces missing: 11 from the edge, and three from the interior. Knowing that there were probably pieces missing changed some of the psychology of doing a jigsaw: we didn't look exhaustively for particular "satisfying" pieces, since they might have been missing, and it was also intriguing to discover which ones really were missing at the end!

Naturally I was tired the next day, but it had been a good time to share with K. I did more programming, and was relieved when a sanity check verified that I'd not "broken" anything in the complex solver I was working on.

After that, the afternoon was calm, as I printed the Season's Greetings photos for A's family, and our family letter that, later, we included with some of the cards as we wrote our few Christmas cards.

K returned to her flat in the evening and, after midnight, daughter L returned from London. They aren't avoiding each other - as they hang out together in Edinburgh occasionally - but it would be nice for all four of us to be together at some point!
