Chaos At Crewe Station
The tinies have decided to recreate yesterdays chaos at Crewe railway station for you.
The trip back from Bruges to the UK was very smooth and uneventful, unlike the trip from London back to Chester!
We had been informed that our train from Euston to Chester had been cancelled before we left Belgium and then watched on the Trainline app as EVERY train from Euston to Holyhead was slowly cancelled. Fortunately we can also get to Chester on a Manchester or Liverpool train if we change at Crewe.
Whilst on the Eurostar back to the UK we saw most of the Manchester trains also being cancelled. Once we got to Euston we were able to persuade the guard to allow us to jump on the first available train to Crewe (I think he had started to loose the will to live at this point and was just letting everyone get whichever train they could).
When we got to Crewe the platform was heaving and when the announcement came that the train only had 2 carriages we didn't think we stood a chance of getting on. However, everyone piled on any way they could and we even managed to get a seat!
I knew that the UK rail network was a shambles but it really became clear just how bad the situation has gotten when directly comparing our experience in the UK with that in Belgium!
