Tuba Christmas

Portlanders gathered at Pioneer Courthouse Square to enjoy 200 tubas making music together. The youngest tuba player was 9 years old and the oldest was 80. There were prizes, costumes, and audience participation on a few familiar carols.
We left about 15 minutes before it was over, and as we were waiting for a bus to go home, a march of about 100 Portlanders concerned about the genocide in Gaza were headed in the direction of the square. The merriment and the sorrow.
