Victoria Park - Tewksbury
Continuing yesterday's watery theme we went to Tewksbury this morning. Despite there not having been massive amounts of rain here the Victoria Park was impassible as was much of the walkway into the town. The River Avon is the nearest to the camera and the River Severn is away across the flooded Ham or "water meadows". These flood every year to protect surrounding homes and businesses and to ease the flow down to Gloucester. One house on the banks of the Avon was for sale. Unoccupied and had a very sturdy flood defence across the front door.
The town was not too busy and some of the shops had unusual things for sale. Tewksbury is alway worth a visit. On summer days it is hard to believe that there have been any floods here at all!
