The Abbey and The Blade

The gateway to Reading Abbey, once one of the largest monasteries in Europe. Restored in 2018, it is one of only two buildings from the Abbey that have survived more or less intact for over 900 years. At one time the Gateway formed part of Reading Ladies' Boarding School, which Jane Austen attended. It is a truth universally acknowledged, that she didn't stay long. Through the archway is a glimpse of 'The Blade', a tower block office complex built in 2008 and seen in one of my blips last month. 

Our solicitors have their offices at the end of the road. Various signed papers were returned as we make some long awaited progress on the house purchase. Its looking more likely to happen now, though not, I suspect, for another couple of months.
