Christmas Community Lunch
Fellow blipper Boomerang removing some tasty cheesy rolls from the oven.
The village hall was buzzing with chat as locals arrived for the first community lunch in four years. It was emotional to see how the whole event was supported by all age groups and good to see the number of volunteers pulling together to set up and decorate tables and provide a mass of food to feed the 80 plus people attending. To me the worst part of any event is the clearing and washing up, a good feeling to see men and women of all ages diving in. What heros.
When we first moved to Dervaig I was encouraged to help in a similar event 25 years ago, it was then organised by the Rural, the Scottish WI, for pensioners living in the area. It is good to know the tradition continues.
