The chaps

Mr C had a long appointment at the hospital
but all the checks went well which is a relief.

I cooked for our friends coming over. What bad planning - I made a salmon with a mustard dressing and an apple and onion slaw. But after reading about a fellow Blipper’s Dutch mustard soup I changed my mind about the starter and made it. So it was mustard overload. Still the pudding was gooseberries with gooseberry ice cream so no mustard there!

Colin and Katy had been at the funeral of the young farmer who took his own life recently as they are good friends of his parents. The church had been packed. It’s tragic - he had been suffering from depression after his wife had left him but his parents and sister were keeping an eye on him. His dad had removed the farm gun but he shot himself in the head with a cattle stunner and though alive when found was brain dead. The air ambulance came to take his organs for transplant. His parents are devastated and to make it worse the grandchildren who were around all the time have moved away with their mum. Having lost a child I can understand their pain but it is hard to comprehend the desperation of someone taking their life when they have small children.
