A flow form in the Green Shop's forecourt pond

At the Green Shop I always like to look at the pond built next to the garage forecourt, which has this solar powered flow form that circulates and aerates the water. The pond has a wealth of intricate insect life in its relatively shallow depths, including these dragonflies which I blipped here four years ago.

They emerge from the pond in May or June having spent three years as nymphs, climbing the stems of the reeds (see the ‘Extra’), where the shed their exoskeletons before flying off. Within a few weeks they laying eggs in the pond which completes their life cycle.
