Waiting for the Bus

Needing some fresh air and exercise I took a trip out to Buckler's Hard on the River Beaulieu in Hampshire. After wandering round the old ship builder's village I walked along the river path into Beaulieu Village.

There I encountered a small group of New Forest ponies enjoying some of the grass verges - no need for council lawn mowers here then!  Next thing I knew, cars had started to slow down and queue through the village; a group of donkeys were slowly plodding their way down the middle of the road. Another group started heading towards them, again the middle of the road was their preferred position. All told there was probably a dozen or more of the creatures successfully holding up the traffic!  Once the groups met, they moved of together to who knows where, and traffic started flowing again bar giving way to the ponies who decided to cross the road and head into the village car park.  I guess the locals get used to this.

These were the last of the donkeys to move off from the meeting point of the two groups around the bus stop.
