Never really vanish?

       You'd think, looking at the flower stalks, that they'd vanish without trace.   In fact, almost as soon as they go these pale wee pokers appear.
       BUT
What I hadn't quite noticed before?  The speed with which next years leaves start to make their presence visible.  Some, of course, more advanced than others, but still there.
