Matsumoto and the Alps

Yesterday was very wet and windy, as we caught the tail of a typhoon. Matsumoto lies on a flat plain surrounded by a mountain bowl.
This is early morning, just before sunrise, looking west across the city to the mountains which rise to just over 3000 metres. The clouds are hanging tenaciously to the Alps, with snow visible in some of the gullies.
