Hawes End Jetty

We planned to get the bus to Rosthwaite and walk back, pausing for coffee in the cafe at Grange.  However, best laid plans etc...........we were lazy and missed the bus!  Given the old military maxim "A good plan never survives etc....." we adapted and chose to walk down the west side of Derwentwater pausing for coffee and cake at the Chalet cafe in Portinscale. Lovely coffee and the peppermint/chocolate shortcake was very yum! 
Our walk continued to the far end of Manesty Wood where we turned back.  The path around the bottom of Derwentwater was closed due to flooding necessitating the about turn.  The rain held off but the wind was very strong again.
