Calstock Montol
I always enjoy the Winter Solstice and it was a jam packed one today!
Sister arrived yesterday and we both had a disturbed night as Oscar was not happy being shut in the attic with me! He wanted to be with sister/ the cat and whined and scratched at the door on and off! At 3 am I threw him in the conservatory and made a cup of tea for me and sister. I had to release him from the conservatory 30 mins later as he was howling! Thankfully he then settled down in the attic - I think he knew he had pushed me right over the edge!
So the day started with Oscar in the Adventure field where he positively frolicked and scampered around with happiness! We had a couple of stops to get bits and pieces before I finally took sister to get milk from the machine! The bottles are now decorated with festive motifs and the special flavoured milk was Eggnog! We got a few more things from the farm shop, including a sausage flan with spiced smoked paprika red relish. It was warm from the oven and our mouths watered all the way home! I have to say it was the most delicious flan I have ever had!
Early eve saw us going down to watch the lantern procession. Last year a samba band was hired but this year the organiser had set up her own band - Nellie of The Woods was of course in the band! Unfortunately many of the lanterns had to be kept in the hall due to the high winds, but the band made up for that - so many people with drums and bells and cow bells! Plus 3 people with light up wings who led everyone down into the village. We didn't go down as my leg and hips are not in good condition! We returned home to walk Oscar, have supper and continue our 12 Days Of Christmas jigsaw puzzle!!
