Christmas Tree
Today's the day ...................... to get in the mood
I've had a lot of trouble this year getting into the Christmas mood.
Quite a lot of it was a result of knowing that no-one was actually coming here to spend Christmas - so, really, what was the point of decorating the house when it was just the two of us that would see it? And we wouldn't be here either on Christmas Day - because we had been invited over to spend it with the family in Moniaive.
Then there was the bit about our Christmas tree (that had been a vital part of many Christmas-times) being too big to come into the house this year. I can't imagine going out and actually buying one! So the result was that our house has remained resolutely free from anything Christmassy - apart from the odd card here and there. Until today, that is.
Meet our new temporary, stand-in Christmas tree for this year - and who knows, maybe more? It's actually a Chinese Chestnut tree, grown in-house in a pot for a few years now and doing very nicely. At this time of the year, of course, it has no leaves - so it can be decked with baubles and lit up with lights.
And, I would have to say, that it has adapted to the role of being principal 'Christmas Tree' very nicely ......................
