Thanks for all the kind comments the last couple of days — I have not been online much.
This morning A, S and I went to Yarm to do a bit of shopping in Sainsbury’s, and for a browse around Waterstones. I scored highly on the “buy one, get one half price” table — four books, including one as a present for S. Plus I had a tenner on my Waterstones card to use. I didn’t dare go round the rest of the shop, bearing in mind we only have one underseat bag each.
R and H have bought a house in Stokesley, just a few miles from S’s mum. After much time-wasting and fannying about by the seller, they finally completed on Tuesday, so this afternoon they took us to see it. Stokesley is a pretty and very typical posh North Yorkshire market town, with many attractive 18th and 19th century houses, of which theirs is one. As you can see, the previous owners were into patterns and swaggy curtains. But it’s a lovely house in a delightful central situation, and entirely livable without needing any immediate work. No extras left, but here’s a view of the nearby square at one end of the high street. https://www.flickr.com/photos/larecettedujour/53422925208/in/datetaken/
Downside: when they move, their MP will be Rishi Sunak. But maybe not for long eh!
Back home, S and I made dinner of turkey and mushroom pie with an appetizer of the forgotten pigs in blankets from yesterday. It’s been a good day; S’s mum is still largely bedbound, but pain management is better now. Onwards and upwards.
