For the Birds!

One of our holiday traditions is to visit our local bird sanctuary. The Reifel Bird Sanctuary is a 7 Sq. Km. tideland and marshland area at the mouth of the Fraser River, about half of which has trails open to the public. It has had over 250 species of birds recorded there, and is a resting place for migratory birds from the Arctic to Central and South America.

Birders from all over the metropolitan area flock, if you will, to the sanctuary hoping for a rare find. Most visitors are satisfied feeding the ducks, geese and chickadees.

Clockwise for the top left- Sandhill Cranes, Redwing Blackbird, Chickadees

Extra- Mallards, Beaver, basking in the sun, Pintail.
