If you're happy and you know it...clean your clams
When we first moved here we thought we'd give this 'shopping locally' thing a proper go - we don't have a supermarket in town and one of us is at home every single day so it made sense.
So these clams are from Pittenweem and our lovely local fishmonger got them in specially for us. They were meant for Bry's birthday tea yesterday but I cock(led?)* up and ordered them from a fishmonger in Edinburgh, completely forgetting that I didn't live there any more.
Mussel remember not to do that again (sorry, I'll stop that now before I get carried away).
So today is clam day. I have never cooked clams or mussels before and I'm a bit nervous but its a Jamie recipe so SURELY nothing can go wrong?
The fishmonger were brilliant, really went out of their way to get them for us and even ended up giving me and Arlo free tickets for the circus in the process (that's some service, huh?!) .
Oh yeah and also, the house that we tried to buy, that fell through, that we them tried to buy again, that then fell through AGAIN that we tried to buy a THIRD time has finally completed and we are now the proud owners of a pretty ugly house.
An ugly house that will one day be lovely and will always be filled with love. And quite a lot of shouting (which is why we were determined to get a detached)...
Hooray all round I'd say. Now, back to making my clam linguine. Salmon (sorry. Last one, promise) would say its a risky thing to cook, but I'm going for it...seize the day!
