Where east meets west!

Conversation with a colleague a few days ago:

Him: ‘What are you doing over the holidays?’

Me: ‘Just the usual on the day but we’re going away in between Christmas and New Year.’

Him: ‘Where are you going?’

Me: ‘Bosnia.’

Him: Long period of silence followed by ‘That’s a bit random.’

Not actually that ‘random’. My husband’s been to Sarajevo a couple of times for work and has often said it would be a great place for us to visit, not least because of its history… so we have. In fact, the man who used to run the Bosnian office at the company my husband works for was on the same flight as us today, taking his family on a short break to visit friends he’d made during his time there. What are the odds?!?

Just got back from a long walk around the city and had a lovely, traditional dinner. Apart from the fact that my head of department sent us the dreaded ‘what we need to do when we get back to school’ email while we were eating, it’s so nice to be away somewhere new for a few days.
