The Long Road Home

We left Epsom at about 9am this morning. M25 to Watford went well and where we made a pit-stop. From there we headed for the M1, mistake. 5mph as far as the Luton turnoff which we took. More than 1/2hr added to just that part of the journey!

Luton to Bedford on the A6, then over towards the A1near Tempsford which was at a standstill so diverted via the country lanes through St Neots and rejoined the A1 some miles north.

The A1 then A1(M) came to another standstill near the Peterborough Services so we branched off before that, through Peterborough onto the A15.

Past Market Deeping, Bourne, Sleaford to Lincoln then up to the M180 (west), M18 (north), M62 West rejoining the A1(M) near Pontefract. 

We arrived home just after 5.30pm. I have no idea if we had sat out all the motorway jams we would have arrived sooner but all I know is that we kept moving and saw some interesting places along the way.

It was just a shame it looked like nighttime all the way even at midday, so wet and gloomy!
