It has been such a long day. We were up at 4am and managed to get showered, dressed, pack the car and leave by 4.50am for the long journey to Switzerland.

Last night there was a bit of drama in our estate where we live, there was an attempted burglary of someone's luxury car which was parked in the gated driveway of their property. The majority of residents in our estate subscribe to a security service, and luckily this resident is a member of this service. She happened to be awake at 3am giving medicine to her sick child when she saw two men attempting to take her car, so she immediately phoned the patrolling security officer - he managed to quickly get to the entrance road to the estate and parked his vehicle across the road preventing the would-be-thieves from escaping in the car. They abandoned the car and ran, and by now the police had arrived with vehicles and a helicopter. The helicopter chased the thieves who were running away, making a beeline for the railway tracks as they know that helicopters are not allowed to fly above a railway line so they escaped. The car was slightly damaged when it was abandoned and rolled back down the road. The thieves left forensics in the car so perhaps they will be caught. So when we left at 4.50am there were many police vehicles, the security company staff and vehicles and a tow truck all around the car dealing with the problem, blue lights flashing and it looked like a movie scene! Thankfully no one was hurt and the car was not stolen. The thieves are able to steal cars relatively easily today with enhanced range amplifiers for the keyless fobs.

After that little bit of drama (we had Whatsapps pinging all morning from our neighbourhood group) we had a relatively easy, but long journey to Switzerland. It was a bit slow at the French border control side of the Eurotunnel but other than that the roads were clear. The boys flew this morning and arrived at the apartment a few hours before us, so when we arrived at 7pm we walked in to a tasty supper of spaghetti bolognaise all cooked and ready, it was very welcome and much appreciated.

The boys will go skiing first thing tomorrow morning, Gavin and I need to get some groceries, walk Xena and attend to a few chores first so we are not sure if we will get up the mountain tomorrow.

There was no opportunity for photos today, despite having the most glorious sunset tonight. This was snapped through the car windscreen somewhere in France on the journey - I liked the lines here.
