More stunning skies over the Lake District. This was my last day of work for this year and I am now on holiday!!

Today was also Winter Solstice. As soon as I'd finished work D and I went out on a little walk to celebrate. We climbed up to the top of the hill and came back via a field of gorgeous highland cows, with great views over the whole town and out to the fells. We exchanged Solstice gifts and caught up on this year's Julkalender, then we made a special dinner for the whole family: an umami mushroom and sausage stew served on round, bowl-shaped, sunshine yellow flatbreads. They looked beautiful. 

The best way to make any day feel like a special celebration - spend an inordinate amount of time making something faffy for dinner!
