Nature red in tooth and claw...

A warm and sunny day surveying an island between the River Nene and Ailsworth Backwater. 

So many dragonflies, damselflies and mayflies on the wing, including more Banded Demoiselles than I've ever seen before, plenty of Scarce Chasers and a few White-legged Damselflies. 

This male Banded Demoiselle was making short work of the Common Mayfly.
