Wound up in Wexford

An ibis tree?

Did you know white ibis grow on trees?  No, me neither.

Having spent the morning mooching with a little souvenir shopping, we took a boat trip into the mangrove forest.  The timing of the trip depends on tides – it can only be done around high tide. So today, we started around 4pm, when the sun was losing its power. The combination of low light and boat movement makes it difficult to get decent photos. In extras you’ll find rather a nice sunset view.

We saw a small anteater sleeping in a tree, but my photos of it just show a blurry fur ball.  And other birds included a kingfisher, whimbrel overwintering from the US, and a blue heron.  And of course this large conglomeration of white ibis – gathering for safety whilst sleeping.

Afterwards, we were treated to a traditional Costa Rican meal before being transported back to our hotels.

We dropped off cameras/binoculars etc in our room then popped out for a couple of drinks.

Moving on again tomorrow – back to San Jose.

Location on the map is VERY approximate!
