The Ford
I forgot to mention that son M managed to get a place on the annual Wansfell Hill race out of Ambleside, that was supposedly full with no entry on the day. The weather was awful, driving rain and wind of 50km forecast for the summit. M was correct in assuming there would be lots of "no shows" because of the weather so they'd let him have a run. (He's run it before) R had gone to the summit to cheer on M and M's girlfriend C and her Dad. He confirmed the weather was frightful at the top and he could hardly stand. ( His blip here). C and her parents came to stay the night and a splendid evening was had by all. Much more fun with another family round the table.
Back to today:- This morning; more wind but much less rain. M, C and R went off to the climbing wall. I took C's parents on our local walk, the circuit of Bell Hill. It was wetter than I've ever seen it. This is the ford, I've featured before.. Thank goodness for the little bridge. The beck was very nearly rushing over the top.
