Whooper Swan

Today we all started a new piece of work - surveying the Maxey Cut for the Environment Agency. 

Our most surprising find was this juvenile Whooper Swan. This species normally spends the summer in Iceland. I'm not sure whether this youngster was left behind in the spring, but it seemed quite at home among a flock of Mute Swans!
