The Carob Tree Lives

Do you remember the big tree we had to take down in February? I was resigned to it because there was really no choice. The tree was dangerously hollow. But we lost a huge source of shade and beauty that defined our house.

That corner looked barren, so I tried to spruce it up with some planters. But it was rather pathetic looking.... Until thin branches started shooting out from the base of the stump. As the weather heated up, the branches grew and grew until I worried that one day we might get a Carob tree coming into our house. Fortunately, our arborist neighbor assures me that won't happen and that he will help me keep it trimmed like a stylish bush. While I still miss the shade of the tree. The beautiful burst of green is a truly welcome sight. I love nice surprises.
