Hogmanay

An odd night as I fell asleep listening to Val McDermid (novel based in Edinburgh which mentions of Middle Meadow Walk, the Quartermile and Soderberg, half expected Lady Findhorn to appear) and woke up of and on during the night.  Then I discovered my Garmin had died and that the new batteries I bought, a year ago, and had brought in anticipation of them dying, were the wrong size!

Went next door in time for us to go to the play date at the Bank Negara Museum - Wen Hui's cousin K, wife J, kids A and B and another cousin and his wife and a boy and girl.  Like the rest of the group I was masked, though it's not mandatory here and most folk don't.  We were there over 2 hours and didn't see it all.  It is the best attraction in KL and there were lots of new exhibits since I was last there is 2020.  But it was very hot - doubt the AC was on, but the fans were still creating that Marilyn Monroe moment. 

Then back to Mont Kiara for lunch/brunch.  I took time to nip to 163 for said batteries, pan scrubber, small frying pan and fizz for later. Olivia managed to fall in the water at Arcoris and was a bit damp!

We didn't get home till 3.30.  #1 son hadn't joined us but seemed ok.  I left about 5 and went back to GK.  Fixed the Garmin, if only realised last year that Mr DIY would sell the correct batteries. Of course they would.  Tried to fix the work bank account and couldn't and had a swim.  So refreshing.

Things got weird later.  I went down early to mee the family coming over for the bells and a girl who got in the loft at a lower floor managed to drop 5 bottles of S Korean booze as she was trying to do the door release.  then she scarpered leaving broken glass and drink everywhere.  I ended up having to report it to the guard and got dragged in to the saga.  i did retrieve 2 unbroken shot glasses though. 

I watched the Auckland fireworks live and later we all watched the 15 minutes of the Sydney fireworks.  We watched a lot of Mr Bean and BlackPink but the girls crashed by 11.  We did wake them up and did a countdown with Taipei with the fizz ready to drink.....

And that was the end of 2023.
