Kent coast

After a bit of a lie in, we drove in to Faversham. Nothing much open, but we did get a coffee, then wandered up and down the character filled streets. So many old buildings and dominated by a specific brewery which supplies the many quaint pubs in the town.

From there we took the coast road to Whitstable. It couldn't have been more different - heaving with visitors, and the many car parks were very full. We drove around for a long while before finding a space. By which time it was 1.30 and we were getting peckish. Queues at the fish and chip shops stretched down the road but at the sea there was a craft shop/cafe/food place where we got jacket potatoes and a seat in the warm!

A wander then, back up and down before driving back to the campsite. Nowhere was more than 25 minutes away, so Canterbury is quite a good location. Would be nice to visit in the summer - or rather, when the weather is nicer but there are less visitors!

Thank you to everyone for your kind birthday wishes today, and to those who sent me cards and presents. I feel very lucky. We came away for a change, because I wanted to feel like it was my birthday - but was reminded that it's a bank holiday where ever you are on January 1st, and I have to accept a quiet walk on the beach, woods, town etc is probably never going to happen on this particular date! Anyway it has been nice exploring somewhere new, and Jon is going to heat up a curry for dinner. We are then going to the cinema!

Happy New Year blippers - i can't promise my photos will improve, but I will continue to document each day of my 2024 with honesty!
