The big freeze

There was a 0.5mm layer of ice encrusting my car this morning. I have never seen this in the 20 years living in Melbourne.

My office moved today. I felt like I've been pulled from the grounds, roots and all. I've been there for 14 years, during which time my residential address had moved 12 times. I realized I've never been anywhere longer than I've been there. It has been my anchor, the only permanent address I had.

It feels like my roots have suddenly lost their grip.
